Things to Consider Before You Join The Travel Profession

  • Do you LOVE to travel?  You’ve got to be both passionate about travel AND have experience in traveling.  This doesn’t need to be extensive international trips, but you would be expected to have experience of and be knowledgeable about a niche for you to sell confidently.

  • Are you adept at providing exceptional customer service? Success in the travel industry hinges on your ability to meet the needs and expectations of clients. Strong communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills are crucial for delivering personalized service and creating memorable travel experiences.

  • Are you committed to staying informed about the travel industry and continuously expanding your knowledge? Keeping up-to-date with industry trends, destination information, and travel regulations is essential for providing accurate and valuable advice to clients. Embrace lifelong learning through training programs, industry events, and networking opportunities to stay competitive in the travel profession.

  • Do you fancy being an agent just for the perks of discounted travel and influencer potential?  THEN THIS MAY NOT BE THE JOB FOR YOU.  Cheap travel is often by way of FAM trips - i.e. you are there to familiarize yourself with the place in order to sell travel, not to relax the whole time.  And while you do get some great discounts for your own personal travel, think carefully before committing to this course and career.  Booking travel for people involves administrative work, research, dealing with difficult clients, and troubleshooting.
